The Online MBA Program at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is ranked No. 12 in the latest U.S. News and World Report Best Online MBA Programs, published today.

The ranking is based on student engagement, a survey of deans and academic directors of online MBA programs, faculty credentials and training, student excellence, and a school’s services and technology offerings for students.

The ranking recognizes Maryland Smith’s strong student engagement, one of five ranking methodology subcategories. Programs, according to U.S. News, are gauged for fostering opportunity for on-campus interaction between classmates and accessible and responsive instructor. Students in Smith’s program participate in weekly, online live sessions where they interact with instructors and classmates. The regular interactions develop a sense of community that is reinforced when they all come together on campus for their capstone closing residency.
